Academic Bio:

Coach Walsh had great direction from his parents growing up. They taught him at a young age that success in all areas of life, including sports, goes through the classroom. Coach always excelled in the classroom from De La Salle, to San Jose State, to the University of Texas-Austin and finally through his graduation from his Masters Degree program in 2004. His most proud accomplishment was when he was selected to be the 1993 Class Valedictorian of De La Salle. This proves that Coach Walsh knows how to get it done both on the field and in the classroom!

Coaching Bio:

Coach Walsh started his coaching career as a student assistant at the University of Texas in 1996, coaching running backs, one of whom was Heisman Trophy winner Ricky Williams. Coach Walsh was a 2 sport athlete all the way through his playing career which began as a young kid. Throughout his life he concentrated on playing baseball and football. Football began for Coach Walsh when he started to get too many yellow and red cards on the soccer field as a 10 year old. His parents thought football might be a better Fall Sport for him. Coach played football for the San Ramon Valley T-Birds for four seasons prior to entering De La Salle High School.

At DLS Coach Walsh was the California High School Player of the Year in 1992, scoring a school record 38 touchdowns, and rushing for 2,029 yards in the 1992. Coach compiled over 4,000 yards and 70 touchdowns in his 3 years on Varsity. His teams went 38-1 over a 3 year span. The one loss in 1991 was the spark that led Coach Walsh and his brothers to set the tone in 1992 for a winning streak that lasted 11 years and 151 games at De La Salle. Of all of the things accomplished at De La Salle Coach Walsh is most proud that his team started the famous De La Salle Streak. Group accomplishments (Brotherhood) have always meant more to Coach than individual accolades. Coach was also a 3 time 1st team All League Baseball Player for the Spartans which earned him the opportunity to earn a scholarship in football to San Jose State University AND play baseball at the Division 1A Level. Coach Walsh was inducted into the De La Salle Hall of Fame in the summer of 2011.

Coach Walsh played four years of football and three years of baseball on a full scholarship at San Jose State University. He then transferred to the University of Texas-Austin (Hook ‘em Horns!) where he finished his degree and played one year of baseball for Championship baseball coach Auggie Garrido. He was one of two players that started every game for the 1997 Longhorn Baseball team.

Personal Life:

Coach Walsh is married to Lindsay (an Austin, TX native) and has two young boys William and Charles. You will definitely see them running around the Next Level and Serra playing fields!
